Educating Everyone Takes Everyone
An early dismissal drill has been scheduled for the Ballston Spa Central School District on Friday, November 8, 2019. As a result of this drill, students will be released from school fifteen (15) minutes earlier than normal on November 8, 2019. However, please be aware that due to the fact that an emergency dismissal drill will be conducted in the district, children may arrive home earlier or later than normal.
Today’s Halloween events will go on as scheduled. In the event of extreme weather, we may alter the timing of events (shorten or cancel). We will make every effort to maintain the schedule as planned. The costume parade is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. If you are attending the parade, please stay in the Wood Road end of the bus loop to watch. The parade route is fairly long and there will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures and watch your child parade. Students will be returning to the classroom after the parade for the conclusion of the day. At the conclusion of the parade, parents who have arranged to pick up their child, please enter the side doors of the Wood Road Cafeteria. Sign outs will be by grade level in the cafeteria.
Meet the Teacher Night at Wood Road is Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is a time for parents and guardians to have the opportunity to see the school, meet the staff and learn about the instructional programs. We ask that parents attend without their children. Parents will follow a schedule that will allow them to take part in all areas of their student's education. Classroom teachers, humanities teachers and support staff will be available to give an overview of the curriculum and program.
A districtwide Wellness Day focused on health and wellness will be held on April 4, 2020 from 9:00 am-12:30 pm at the BSMS/HS Complex. Everyone in the Ballston Spa school community is invited to join together for the 5th Annual Scotties Stampede 5k at 9:00 am at the district’s tennis courts on Garrett Road. The Wellness Expo will immediately follow, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm in the High School cafeteria/gymnasium.
Students from Malta Avenue Elementary School had the opportunity to participate in a SPAC Dance Residency program again this year. For the first time, the students performed “Sensational Soul,” which featured music by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and many others.
