Welcome to Kindergarten!  I am so happy to have you as a part of my class this year.  I hope this site is helpful so that we may communicate with each other.  Let's make this first year of school fun and successful for your child together!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself professionally as well as personally.  I received my undergraduate degree at Keuka College in Special Education (K-12), Regular Education (pre K-6) and concentrated in Sociology. I was hired as a Second Grade teacher in a co-teaching classroom here in Ballston Spa immediately after graduating.  While teaching I began my Masters degree at the University of Albany in Reading.  I taught in this position for nine years, before switching to a co-teaching Kindergarten classroom.  This  coming year will be my 22nd year teaching in Ballston Spa!  I am heavily involved with many committees and am also a representative for our union.  

I live in Saratoga with my husband Todd, my 15 year old daughter Melena, our dogs Bowe and Angie and our cat Luna.  I love spending my time outdoors by our pool or at my parents house on Sacandaga Lake.  Warmer weather is definitely my favorite, but I do like all four seasons.  I love to travel locally as well as globally, so we are usually on the go!  Watching movies is another family favorite!  I belong to a book club and I really enjoy reading Murder Mysteries.  Melena is heavily involved with music, theater and basketball so I am really good at playing taxi cab driver and cheering her on in the audience. 

Kids are amazed that I don't drink coffee or like spiders and that they really need to look up at me since I'm 5'11".  Many students are also surprised to learn that I played basketball in college, have been a coach for the JV and Freshman Girls teams, I went to three elementary schools, attended two high schools and have sky dived.

I hope this gives you a sneak peek as to who I am.  During the day I share stories with the class about my family and life experiences just like they do with me.  For the next 10 months and possibly for years to come we will become a school family.
