Gifted Education

The Ballston Spa Central School District offers Young Scholars for students in grades 3-5.

Ballston Scholars  - An inquiry-based program which meets the needs of high ability students in grades 3-5 who have reasoning skills in the top one or two percent of students in their age group, nationwide, as measured by the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test). The program extends instruction in core subjects. The focus is on English language arts, science, social studies, math, engineering, technology and Latin. Classes meet once each week:  2 hour classes for 3rd grade; and a full day each week for 4th and 5th grades.
